Ok now sorry for the delay to anyone who actually reads this crummy ol’ blog o’ mine. RL stuff such as a cold that was going around had to work and alot of other things going on. So umm yeah onto the review.
Now I’m gonna warn you MAJOR spoilers coming up ahead. Well if you haven’t seen the first 26 episodes at least.
Okay this sucks lost what I typed originally but oh well here goes let’s see if i can’t make something even better.
Alright now by this point we’ve seen alot of shit, met a decent number of the main cast and gotten glimpses of some of the future ones as well. Now this segment shall pick up upon the area that my other one left off on which is an ABYSMALLY short tournament arc(as in the shortest I can recall seeing by this point in time). Now sadly because of my attempts to remain at least mostly spoiler free doesn’t leave me much room. But I WILL say these things. This show only gets darker from here. You will see Neotopia show just how truly depraved it’s “Absolute Law” is as well as seeing the true goals of Hugh(not to mention why the hell he wears that mask) as well as of the nobles in Tusk. While at the same time we find out more about Sagiri’s people, the Key Spirits and even a few new tribes. Hell Zed even meets his mother again for all it’s worth(I don’t think it spoils too much to say she’s as messed up as Light Yagami at the end of Death Note in more than a few ways). Spoiler wise I’m sorry to say that’s all I’m giving ya gotta watch it to find out more LOL.
However since sadly I can’t in good conscience really expound on or reveal too much more(for what should be rather obvious reasons) I will say a few things as well as TL;DR to finish up. This series is dark and gritty in alot of ways with alot of death for main characters and those they care about. In some ways it’s very Kill em All(which is kinda funny since even Tomino doesn’t pull this kinda crap anymore). However it also has it’s charms and sweet points…That are often all Tominoed up LOL(seriously look up Yoshiyuki Tomino if you don’t know of him the guy is FAMOUS for death) and quite sadly it starts to feel quite rushed around episode 40 or so, what with the mass introduction of ALOT of new characters and plot points in VERY quick order (if it were me I would’ve tried to wrangle another 2-10 episodes outta it just to have it feel more refined but what can ya do LOL). However I would say it is still quite a nicely done series with a nice bit of depth especially for a shounen series. Though TBH the ending left me personally wanting. Not to spoil any big events but suffice to say it’s one of those endings that suggests the actual end with all the subtlety of a blast from the Wing Zero’s Dual Buster Rifle(that thing can one shot a colony in case you didn’t know) yet doesn’t show you anything of real substance. I personally have always found such endings quite vexing(mainly because I want some goddamn closure of a guaranteed type since I tend to be focused on possibilities I prone to doubting even such obvious indicators LOL).
Overall though I’d say I found the series much more enjoyable than I recalled and I would definitely recommend it to those looking for something darker and more Tomino in their shounen fare as well as a fun ride. Though this series isn’t for everyone by any means. ESPECIALLY those looking for a lighthearted experience. Expect some drama and by some I mean ALOT.
Well that’s it for this show I hope you liked this and if it sound interesting go ahead and look her up. next up will probably be one of these things.
B Gata H Kei
The Legend of Legendary Heroes
Zero no Tsukaima F
But who knows. I am going to be picking up TERA soon(fucking gameplay is too goddamn good I couldn’t resist even though i swore I wouldn’t get it due to censoring). But yeah i hope to have things done and posted sooner than this time and pick up the pace but who knows what the future holds right LOL.
